Dorald Bastian, NYCPS Principal
Dorald Bastian began his career in education as a Teach For America corps member, motivated by the stark intersection of childhood poverty and low expectations. His journey has taken him from classrooms in Houston, Baltimore, and Harlem to serving as a principal in the South Bronx for nineteen years. Dorald holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from Johns Hopkins and executive certificates from Harvard and Georgetown. Currently a doctoral candidate at Teachers College, Columbia University, he is recognized for mentoring new leaders in District 9 and for championing educational justice and opportunity for historically underserved communities.
